Paula López y Jan Morrow
The Ne Bibliaj project is not affiliated to any religious organisation and pursues a non-denominational agenda. The endeavour was set in motion by Jan Morrow, project director, who in 2005 began collecting funds through donations to have the Bible translated into Nawat. Morrow then approached Alan R. King, who agreed to enter the project as translator, starting with the Greek New Testament in 2007, to be followed by the Hebrew Old Testament if funds held out. Jan Morrow remains responsible for most other aspects of the undertaking.
Jan Morrow was born in Northern Ireland but he grew up in the Congo. A veterinary surgeon by profession, he moved to rural El Salvador in 2001 while serving on a Christian relief and development mission. In 2002 he married Flor de Espino, whose grandfather was Pipil. Jan and Flor currently live in the United States, where Jan works for an international missionary organisation.
Alan King
Alan R. King was born in England. He has spent his life working as a linguist and translator. In 2002 he went to El Salvador and began work on Nawat linguistics and language recovery. He has studied Hebrew and Greek has long been interested in Biblical texts. Alan now lives in the Basque Country.
